These are customizable sessions that either meet at our space, a public place, your home or place of work. Packet prices: 1 hour: $60, 5 hours: $250, 10 hours: $475, 15 hours: $675.

MEDICAL SPANISH COURSES
WE WERE THE FIRST IN BOSTON WITH MEDICAL SPANISH CLASSES!
Are you a healthcare provider? Don't get an interpreter, take our class! We are the ones that introduced Medical Spanish to the Boston area! In 2007 GBSG’s founders started the medical Spanish program at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, then brought the approach to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Understanding and effectively treating your Latino / Hispanic patients requires more than just speaking Spanish – we also provide cultural awareness and competency training to help providers interact with this population group effectively. GBSG offers Medical Spanish classes that will help you to:
• Understand and use a Spanish vocabulary, general and medical terms
• Confidently interview patients, take histories, conduct exams, prescribe medication, and give follow-up instructions in Spanish
• Have spontaneous dialogues in Spanish using verbs in the past, present, future, and command forms
• Become aware of major cultural characteristics that will help you to assess your patients more effectively. In this class you will learn to identify differences among specific subgroups in the US Latino and Latin American populations; and understand considerations related to recent immigrants vs 2nd or 3rd generations; as well as socioeconomic vs cultural differences.
About the Medical Spanish Instructor: Jose Barriga is a seasoned Spanish Interpreter that has worked since 2016 with the Joslin Diabetes Clinic, a Harvard University-affiliated hospital. In 2014 he started the Spanish Medical program at the Cambridge Center for Adult Ed. Later in 2015, he taught the same course at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is fully bilingual and bi-cultural. He holds a BA in Social Psychology from URP (Lima, Peru) and has done grad course work in communications (UCLA), and Regulatory for Drugs and Medical Devices (Northeastern University). He is also an experienced cross-cultural trainer and Spanish Instructor. Intermediate to advanced-level Spanish is required for class enrollment.

Every first Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. $130, includes lunch, 6 students or fewer. Five hours of an intense immersing experience into Latino America / US Latino in Spanish. At our Spanish Immersion Day you will practice your Spanish in a small group while covering a series of activities in Spanish and having conversations around it: reading news articles, watching a short movie, playing games, learning and practicing new grammatical forms and finally having lunch while ordering in Spanish.

One day, 3 hours total, 2-3 short movies from different countries. 5 students or fewer. $60. Level: from intermediate III and up. This class is provided by Jose Barriga, Spanish instructor, the Funder - Director (2001-2015) of the Boston Latino International Film Festival and former media editor of El Planeta, the Spanish news publication owned by the former Boston Phoenix.

The Greater Boston Spanish Group in collaboration with Viceversa Communications (www.latinoad.com) offers a wide variety of translation services. We aim to serve different industries and sectors including non-profits, government, corporate, legal, medical and pharma labeling. Our competitive translation prices vary depending on industry, type of translation and length. In addition we have available a number of seasoned legal and medical interpreters that can assist you on delivering the right messaging and content, in the right way to different US Latino / Hispanic demographics, our interpreting services could be delivered in person, or over the phone, in consecutive or simultaneous interpreting styles.
